A major resurfacing project will interrupt races scheduled in July as paving/concrete contractors will take over Cordova Dragway.
The plan is to mill the asphalt surface and replace it with concrete just past the eighth-mile mark. In addition, a section of the top-end shut down will be milled and resurfaced.
During recent events, it has been brought to our attention that the surface applied in 2017 will not hold up for the long term.
We must ensure that Cordova has the premier surface we all expect. Having a concrete surface beyond the 1/8 mile will create a racing surface that will hold up for many, many years. Just imagine what your E.T. slips will read on this new surface!
While we know this is an interruption of planned events, we want to be sure Cordova has the smoothest, best hooking, and safest racetrack for all of you. I’m confident our racers and fans will understand that we are investing in the future, and when doing so, it sometimes requires a change in plans.
I am truly sorry for the need to change the schedule, but rest assured it will be worth it as we create the track we all want.
